Description
Travel to the sacred heart of the Yasawas with Viti Awesome Tours to visit the mystical Sawa-i-Lau water caves and spend the night with a local Fijian family. The Seabus ferry transfer departs Lautoka at 8AM bringing you on a scenic journey through the Yasawa archipelago, until you reach the northern end of Nacula Island, stopping offshore. From the ferry you will be picked up by a local long boat and taken to the beach at one of the most remote island villages, Navotua, which overlooks Sawa-i-Lau island across a shimmering aquamarine bay.
You will be welcomed, Fiji style, by friendly villagers and their carefree, smiling children in a place that will instantly transport you out of the hectic and stress of our modern world. A Fijian Lunch will be served shortly after arrival. Your dedicated guide will be available at all times to assist you and lead your itinereray (in Fiji time!), which will involve a long boat trip out to Sawa-i-Lau island to visit the sacred caves within. Island folklore has long told of the resting place of an ancient Fijian God within. Snorkelling gear will be provided as it is a swimming tour - the caves are inundated with turquoise water. Besides the cave trip, your snorkelling gear will be available throughout your stay to use off the beach at Navotua as well.
After the Caves, an afternoon tea on the beach before your guide takes you up on a hiking trail up to a 360 degree outlook of the Yasawas. A friendly game of volleyball & touch rugby in the afternoon can be enjoyed in the village.
In the evening, by the light of a bonfire, traditional 'Meke' entertainment will have you bonding with the locals in no time, including Kava 'till you drop! You will be hosted for the night, backpacker style, with a local family. You might get a room or just a bed or mattress on the floor, but with your Fijian family telling stories through the night. If you need privacy this can be arranged. There will always be a local guide (female) from Viti Awesome Tours, with you all throughout the trip and activities, liaising between you and the locals and also interpreting for the villagers where the needs arises.
Following a hearty Fijian style breakfast the next day, collect your snorkelling gear and join your guide for a boat ride to honeymoon island snorkelling or sunbathe on the beautiful beaches of the uninhabited island. Alternatively your guide can take you for a 20 minute lazy walk around the island collecting shells. Finally, enjoy an early lunch in the village on your way back from honeymoon island, while you bid farewell to the villagers before the Seabus transfer back to the mainland.
Please note: A minimum of 2 adults is needed for this trip.
