Bligh Water
Bligh Water was named after famous British Navy Captain Bligh of Bounty and together with Koro sea are situated in the North of Fiji. The water channel separates the islands of Vanua Levu and Vitu Levu. The channel attract many of the small fishes which feed bigger fishes so this place is a perfect spot to watch ecosystem life in Koro sea. This diving spot has a good balance of sea life scenery and rainbow reefs.
This diving spot is recommended for more experienced divers, however, less experienced divers try this place as well. Bligh Water covers a large area of dive sides and the best recommended sports are: Namena Marine Reserve, Koro Island and Wakaya and plenty more. Two main companies are operating in Bligh Water area Safari Lodge Divers and Dive Wananavu.
Yasawa Islands
The Yasawa group consist of 12 islands and offers a wide range dive opportunities. Divers can expect to see eagle rays, sea turtles and reef sharks, bump head parrot fishes, scorpion fish, sea stars, sea sponges, colorful hard and soft corals. Most of the Yasawa resorts have access to a local house reef. The most popular spots are: house reef Kuata, Waya island, manta ray reef near Naviti island and sea fan city. The best season to see manta ray’s in Yasawa is between October and May when tropical water near Naviti island creates a perfect place for manta ray to socialize and find food.
Malolo Barrier Reef
Within Western Fiji you can find the Malolo Barrier Reef located right below the Malolo Lailai Islands. Within the Malolo Barrier Reef you can find wrecks, walls, reefs and swim-throughs. Some of the nearby resorts do fish feeding which has brought some of the most beautiful fish into the shallower areas. From the Malolo Lailai islands there are around 44 dive sites within reach, with dive centers (such as Subsurface Fiji) who do pick-ups from most of the surrounding resorts. The great variety of dive sites ensures that the diving is great for beginners as well as experienced divers.
The most well-known dive sites are Gotham City, named after its batfish, and the Supermarket, which is a popular spot to see reef sharks. For the more experienced diver Vomo Island and Bird Rock are a must see because of their unusual and spectacular coral formations which allow you to have amazing swim-throughs and swim through caverns and caves. In addition, dramatic sheer wall plunging for about 40 metres with loads of unusual fish life are also part of the trip.
