Sun Coast

The Sun Coast is located along the Western and Northern coastline of Vitu Levu island. Covered with sugar-cane fields, rural villages and cultural market towns, it's easy to fall in love with this part of Fiji. The coastline is dotted with great restaurants and has a relaxing vibe to it.

The landscape is mountainous with the peaks of Koroyanitu National Heritage Park providing a beautiful skyline and offering great hike opportunities and stunning views.

In Navala village you can see Fijian houses in traditional style and get to know local Fijian culture, the remote location of this village making the views even better.

Fiji Sun Coast is perfect for a beach holiday, paddle boarding, kayaking or diving whereas the inland areas are perfect for hikes to a hidden waterfall or mountain top.

BEST PLACES TO VISIT - SUN COAST

Lautoka
Lautoka is the second largest city within Fiji located only 24 kilometers from Nadi. It is the second biggest port entry of Fiji and located in the middle of Fiji’s sugar cane region, which is why it is known as the Sugar city. In Lautoka you can visit the Hare Krishna temple, the Lautoka market, the botanical gardens and Lautoka’s sugar mill.

Koroyanity National Heritage Park
Walk through the most beautiful mountain side of Fiji, engulfed in nature and heritage, away from tourist zones. Six villages within the park cooperate as part of an ecotourism project.

Locals maintain the landscape and tracks, in return for tourist dollars made through village stays.

Fiji things to do navala village

Navala Village
Being the last authentic traditional Fijian village, Navala is by far the most attractive village in the Sun Coast. All of the houses are built with local materials; the only iron in sight is from the church, school and radio shed.

Navala is great for taking pictures, but you do need to get permission and pay the $15 entrance fee if you want to wander around. If you reach the village individually, ask a local to take you to the chief.

Church of the Black Christ
Known as the Church of the Black Christ due to a Fijan looking Christ figure in the mural of French artist Jean Charlot, just above the altar. The offical name is Church of St Francis Xavier. After visiting the finest non-Fijan artwork in Fiji, don't forget to drop some money into the donation box at the door. This will help maintain the church.
